Forget Italy, we found the finest shoes here in America. That’s right, made in the U.S.A.
Oak Street bootmakers handcraft their fine footwear out of the Horween facility in Chicago. Each shoemaker has over 20 years of experience. That’s ridiculous in a great way.
They were founded by designer George Vlagos who naturally filled his father’s shoes to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking.
Today we are featuring Oak Street’s Navy Suede Red Brick Sole Trail Oxford. This hand-stitched moccasin includes Horween suede, a red brick camp sole, waxed stitching with rawhide laces. Handcrafted in the USA, naturally. Price: $282
The quality is unheard of today. Each pair of shoes is made of a replaceable outsole. This ensures a lifetime of wear. Oak Street shoes and boots are made from Horween Chromexcel leather. Stay with us here. According to Oak Street, “Chromexcel undergoes 9 separate processes taking 28 days […] Food-grade beef tallow, cosmetic-grade beeswax, marine oil, chrome salts, tree bark extracts and naturally occurring pigments are combined. The mixture is then applied using heat, steam pressure, the hands of craftsman and time.” This formula for amazing shoes has not changed much over the past 100 years and is the reason their footwear is soft yet extremely durable.
We would love to feature them again!
